Professor Dr Syed Tajuddin Syed Hassan is a professor of Biostatistics and Biology at the Department Of Community Health, Faculty Of Medicine And Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) He has received the award of "Great Minds of the 21st Century" from the American Biographical Institute in 2007 and the Excellent Academic Performance Award from the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2008.
Internationally, Dr.
Tajuddin's leadership and contributory role reflects in a variety of
manners including; as Advisory Consultant to The Asia Foundation
Environmental Fellowship Program; Advisory Group Meeting, September
26-29, 1994, Bangkok, Thailand (Represent Malaysia); representing
Malaysia in the Australian Government-sponsored Fellowship, for a
3-weeks course entitled “Modelling impacts of global climatic change on
arthropod populations”, BIOTROP, Bogor, Indonesia. (1998); selected by
IMD International, Lausanne, Switzerland, to participate in an
international executive benchmarking, to develop World Competitiveness
Yearbook 2004. (2003 – 2004); nominated as finalists-nominees for
consideration towards the world acclaimed ecological BIWAKO Award,
Japan. (2003); and appointment to the Editorial Board, in charge of
Tropical Agro-ecosystems Knowledge, of the prestigious fully electronic
international journal “Conservation Ecology”, under the Chief Editorship
of Eminent Scholar Professor Dr C.S. Holling. (2000-2003); represent
Malaysia in the Environmental Fellowship Research Affiliation Study
Award U.S.A., May through July 1993/94,Asia Foundation, Texas A&M
University, Texas (W.L. Sterling & L.T. Wilson), & Clemson University,
South Carolina (B.M. Shepard), and University of Florida, Gainesville,
Florida, U.S.A. (notable Eminent Scholar & Ecological Management
Scientists; C.S. Holling & T.H. Odum, J.W. Jones, & J.C. Allen). Major
focus of research hands-on affiliation was "Spatial & Temporal
Characterizations of Ecological Resources in Ecosystems Management";
represent Malaysia as one Fullbright Scholar 1988-1989; Department of
Entomology, University of California, Davis. (Associate Researcher:
Prof. Dr. L.T. Wilson). Research focus was "Distribution & Feeding
Dynamics of Arthropods in Integrated Pest Management"; Malaysian
delegate as Commonwealth London Times Visiting Research Fellowship
1987/88; International Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, India &
International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology, Nairobi & Mbita
Point, Kenya. Research affiliation focus was "Agroecosystem Management
through Low Input Pest Management"; and represent Malaysia through
UNESCO Travelling Award to the XI International Congress of Plant
Protection, Manila and to the International Rice Research Institute, Los
Banos, Phillippines, 1987. The major presentation made was Sampling
